SMELLING IS BELIEVING

Disclaimer: some statements may not apply to imparied smell persons.

Do you sniff your food before you purchase it? Do you whiff the aroma of the food you’re about to eat? Sometimes the aroma of food or other products can take us on memeory lane. It can also be used to describe something in particular that couldn't be described in any other way.

IDeborah Green's work, Aroma of Righteousness: Scent and Seduction in Rabbinic Life and Literature, she conveys that perfume and incense contribute to deepening one's connection with religion.

The role of scent in a religious setting is to triiger one's memory and remind one that this is the place where love and devotion occurs. It can aslo bring up the thought that one can smell God. Since one can smell God, then one is with God.
