Classen/ A Woman's Touch

I found the beginning of this chapter to be very interesting. This chapter analyzes the difference in the creation of the male and female bodies. It states, "The creation of a human being involved the union of cold matter, provided by the mother, with hot seminal spirit, contributed by the father." It then states that if the semen is "cooked" the baby would be a male. If the amount of heat was insufficient, the baby would be a female. I found this perspective to be very different and it shows how far we have come as humans. We now know what really determines the sex of a baby.
